The authorities continue the process of collecting and identifying the victims.

The Institute of Forensic Medicine of Valencia activated nine forensic teams to travel in the last hours to the areas affected by DANA.

Their task is to remove the corpses and take them to a makeshift morgue set up in the City of Justice in Valencia.

The entire basement of the car park has been cleared and made available to forensic experts.

Autopsies are being performed, as well as identification of those who died.

Officials said it was a “highest priority” operation.

The bodies are then taken to the Feria Valencia conference center while courts contact relatives who have reported their loved ones missing.

The courts will also inform family members of the documents that will be issued so that undertakers can go to the center to take the bodies to the funeral homes.

Valencia’s Minister of Innovation and Feria Valencia president Nuria Montes said the families could not go to the site but had to wait to hear from the court.

Around 50 people work at Feria Valencia to carry out the various tasks as well as the venue staff.
