An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been brought after a crash in Bamber Bridge resulted in the death of an unborn baby.




A pregnant woman was hit by a car on Sunday September 29 on Station Road in Bamber Bridge at around 8pm. The 30-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

She was rushed into emergency surgery to deliver the baby, but the boy died at the hospital. Blog Preston he understands that the woman is recovering.

Police had appealed for information to recover the vehicle involved in the crash – which failed to stop at the scene – and later recovered a Toyota Prius from an address in Bolton.

Several arrests were made following the incident. A 19-year-old man from Walton-le-Dale was arrested and later released on bail.

A 17-year-old girl from Lostock Hall and a 40-year-old man from Blackburn were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and attempting to pervert the course of justice and have been released pending further enquiries.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, and a 53-year-old man, all from Bamber Bridge, were arrested in connection with the incident before being released on bail.
