A 70-year-old woman, Paatali Tamang, was killed by a wild elephant in Phatuwa Bijayapur Municipality, Rautahat District on Friday. The attack took place while she was sleeping at her home in Ward 11.

Her husband managed to escape during the incident, which also resulted in significant damage to their home.

Teams from the Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur Divisional Forest Office and Bijaypur Armed Police Base Camp have reached the spot and investigations are on, according to the District Police Office, Rautahat.
