Latest US election: ‘We’re going to have to shut them down’, says Trump after suing CBS for $10 billion | News from the USA

In Nevada, Donald Trump brought the family of slain Marine Nicholas Douglas Quets on stage to speak.

Lt Col Warren Douglas Quets, who describes himself as “apolitical”, spent his final minutes paying tribute to Mr Trump and JD Vance’s response to his son’s death.

His 31-year-old son was shot and killed along the Caborca-Altar highway in northern Mexico on October 19 by suspected cartel members.

His father says on stage tonight that he wants the US legal code changed so that cartel members suspected of killing his son can face US justice – something he says Trump has pledged to do.

As he speaks, Mr. Trump holds a photo of Nicholas.

Lt Col Quets says he tried to meet with Tim Walz last week when he was nearby, but was told by aides that the event was full.

Instead, Vance and Trump spoke to the family within 36 hours of his son’s death, he says.

Lt Col Quets says the changes needed to combat migration are bipartisan, but that Mr Trump is the man driving the changes.

His wife Patricia Marie Quets is asking the crowd to help them get justice for their son, urging them to vote for Mr Trump.

As the family leaves the stage, the crowd chants, “Fight, fight, fight.”

“We’ll take care of it,” Trump says.
