ATCHISON COUNTY — Law enforcement officers are investigating a theft on a college campus and have made an arrest.

On Wednesday, police were involved in an investigation with Benedictine College Security focused on the theft of wine bottles from Ferrell Hall, 1020 N 2nd Street in Atchison, on the Benedictine College campus, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.

It was determined that the theft occurred around 2 am on Sunday.

Just after 1:30 p.m. On Wednesday, police arrested a student on campus, identified as Matthew Hockel, 22, of Brentwood, California. According to Wilson, Hockel is being held in the Atchison County Jail on charges of burglary and theft.
