A series of Israeli military strikes in the Gaza Strip killed at least 20 people on Wednesday, medics said.

Eight people were killed in a strike in the Salateen area of ​​northern Beit Lahiya, close to where the Gaza Health Ministry said at least 93 were killed or missing in an Israeli airstrike that hit a house with many floors on Tuesday.

The United States called the attack “horrendous.”

There was no immediate Israeli comment on either strike.

Gaza’s emergency service said its operations had been halted because of the Israeli attack for more than three weeks in northern Gaza. Israel says its campaign is to destroy the Palestinian militant group Hamas, whose fighters have regrouped in the area in the year-long war.

The Israeli army sent tanks to Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun and Jabalia, the largest of the eight historic camps in Gaza and the focus of the new military offensive.

Meanwhile, Israeli attacks in southern and central Gaza killed at least seven Palestinians on Wednesday, medics said. In the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, an Israeli strike killed five people and wounded others near a clinic, doctors and residents said.

The October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel killed 1,200 people and over 250 hostages were captured and taken to Gaza, according to Israeli accounts.

The death toll from Israel’s air and ground attack on Gaza has exceeded 43,000, the Gaza Health Ministry says.
