A Port Huron man has died from his injuries 11 days after being hit by a vehicle

PORT HURON, MI — A Port Huron man who was hit by a truck while crossing the street died 11 days after the accident, police said.

Port Huron police identified the man who died Tuesday, Oct. 29, as 57-year-old Howard Morse, a city resident who had been listed in critical condition shortly after the early-morning incident on Oct. 18.

Police said the crash happened on Pine Grove Avenue near Elmwood Street in Port Huron.

Morse had initially been transported to McLaren Port Huron Hospital and was later transferred to McLaren Macomb Hospital.

Pine Grove Avenue in the crash area — near the port of entry for the Blue Water Bridge — was temporarily closed after the crash.

Assistant Chief Jeremy Young said Wednesday, Oct. 30, that no charges have been filed in connection with the crash, but an investigation remains open.

Police said the truck driver remained at the scene after the crash and was cooperating with investigators.
