Man charged for allegedly biting two Woodlands Land Transport Authority officers

SINGAPORE: A man who allegedly bit two Land Transport Authority (LTA) officers on duty was charged in court on Wednesday (Oct 30).

Bryan Chang Yi Hsien, 31, was charged with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty.

Charge sheets do not say why he bit them.

The alleged incident happened at around 3.45pm on October 29 on a shared walkway outside 888 Visual Optics, an eyeglass store in The Woodlands.

According to court documents, Chang bit LTA enforcement officer Muhammad Sirat Abdul Guffoor and punched him several times in the face and neck.

He also allegedly bit the right wrist of the second officer, Hairudin Hassan.

Chang’s case has been adjourned for investigations to be completed, and his next court date is on November 27.

For each charge of voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty, Chang can be jailed for up to seven years, as well as fined or caned. – The Straits Times/ANN
