Fire chases two from Conemaugh Township home, fire ruled accidental

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A fire displaced a man and his adult daughter from their home Monday in Conemaugh Township, Cambria County, authorities said.

The fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Truman Boulevard.

The pair were on the first floor when the fire broke out in a second-floor bedroom, Cover Hill Volunteer Fire Company Chief William Scherer said.

The man turned off the power grid near the kitchen before leaving the home, the chief said.

When the first crews arrived, they found fire on the second and third floors. A second alarm was called for more manpower, he said.

The first floor of the house had water damage. The second and third floors are uninhabitable, Scherer said. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.

One person was treated by EMS near the scene of the fire.

Scherer said the electrical fire is being ruled accidental.

Six additional fire crews responded along with police and East Hills and Conemaugh Valley EMS, according to Cambria County 911.
