RNC voices concern over voter suppression as Trump supporter arrested for telling voters to stay in line

The Republican National Committee and the Trump campaign have raised concerns with Pennsylvania’s secretary of the commonwealth about “voter suppression” at early voting sites as a Trump supporter was arrested for telling voters to stay in line to vote.

RNC Chairman Michael Whatley shared a video on X On Monday, Pennsylvania GOP state committeewoman Val Biancaniello repeatedly told voters, “Don’t overdo it,” as she was arrested at an early voting location in Delaware County.

“A supporter of President Trump was arrested today for encouraging people to stay in early voting lines and vote freely in Pennsylvania,” Whatley wrote for X. “This follows reports across the Commonwealth that voters are being turned away in areas conservative. . This is leftist voter suppression.

A man recording a video of the arrest said: “Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. That’s crazy! Did you lock her up? That’s crazy, man!”

Biancaniello posted on X Monday after her arrest, writing: “Stay in line and #Vote! They arrested me and I didn’t break any laws. I encouraged people to stay in line and vote as Democrats discouraged voters from voting in person in Delaware County today. In fact, the poll worker told people in line to go to the satellite office in Chester Heights because the line was shorter there. Do you know what happened when they got to the Chester Heights office to vote in person? They were told they had run out of applications (the postal ballot). This is voter suppression in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. I didn’t do anything wrong except encourage people to stand in line and vote. So they arrested me. VOTE!”

The noted the RNC in a news release about the arrest, sent a letter to Pennsylvania’s secretary of the commonwealth earlier Monday about concerns that election officials are discouraging voters from voting.

“Voters consistently report to us that at election offices across the Commonwealth, they are told that ‘computers are down’, the site will close early, they are no longer accepting voters and that postal ballots will not be counted,” read the lettersent on behalf of the RNC and the Trump campaign.

Tuesday is the last day Pennsylvania voters can request mail-in ballots in person at an election office.

Regarding Biancaniello’s arrest, Delaware County spokesman Ryan Herlinger said the Delaware Valley Journal“On Monday, October 28, 2024, an incident occurred at the Voter Services Center located in the Government Center Building in Media, PA, which resulted in the arrest and removal of a woman who, according to several eyewitnesses, was disruptive, belligerent, and trying to influence voters standing in line. Her behavior sparked several complaints from the rank and file. The Delaware County Park Police – who provide security for the Government Center building – were on scene and promptly responded to the disturbance.”
