A 16-year-old is facing charges of car theft and evading a traffic stop after his second offence. He was driving a GMC vehicle.

This 16-year-old has already stolen several vehicles.

Car theft is on the rise across the country, and the problem extends to more than just those with the best new cars. This is because all vehicles, regardless of age and number plate, are at risk. Recently a young man was caught stealing a GMC vehicle and of course he initially tried to get away with it traffic Stop. Unfortunately, this was not his first instance of car theft.

Reports say that over one million people will be victims of car theft in 2023. Unfortunately, this trend seems to be on the rise for this year. Now according WCIAa person in Springfield, Illinois reported their 2022 GMC Acadia stolen. Later that day, police officers noticed GMC vehicle in the area traveling at high speed. According to the report, not only was the person driving the SUV speeding, but he was going against oncoming traffic. Finally, the carjacker stopped at a railroad. Unfortunately, the story didn’t end there as he then tried to escape the police on foot. Of course, they eventually caught and arrested the 16-year-old driver. Upon arresting him, police discovered he was wearing an ankle monitor, having previously been arrested for car theft.

Now, the minor is facing multiple preliminary charges related to his second car theft and evading the police. Charges include motor vehicle theft, aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding and reckless driving. Remarkably, he was old enough to be detained, but there was no room in the juvenile facility. For this reason, the police released him to his parents.
