GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) –

A first weather day extends into Tuesday due to watches and advisories issued by the National Weather Service. Turbulent weather conditions are expected to trigger a freeze watch along with many winter weather warnings.

Hours and Notice:

A frost watch system has been implemented for freezing temperatures down to 28°. The Central Gunnison, Delta, Montrose, Hotchkiss, and Uncompahgre River Basin are affected locations.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for Colorado. 6 to 12 inches of snow and 40 to 45 mph winds are expected on Grand Mesa, Battlement Mesa, West Elk Mountains, Swatch Mountains and Northwest San Juan Mountains. This includes the city of Skyway, Vail, Aspen, Snowmass, Crested Butte, Marble, Telluride and Ouray.

3 to 8 inches of snow is detailed in a winter weather advisory for the Elkhead Mountains, Park Mountains and Flat Peaks.

3 to 12 inches of snow, accompanied by winds gusting to 45 mph, is detailed in a winter weather advisory for Cumbres Pass and Wolf Creek Pass.

Grand Valley temperatures continue to cool heading into Wednesday. Grand Junction is expected to reach a high of 57° today, with lows expected to reach 30 degrees overnight. Other locations follow a similar concept today, with highs in the mid to low 50s.
