“It was inspiring to join friends and meet constituents with Harris-Waltz campaign in Pennsylvania this weekend,” Barbara, 42, shared in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday, Oct. 29. “I hope they will move our country forward and protect women’s rights.”

Barbara’s Republican father was president from 2001 to 2009. Her mother, former first lady Laura Bush77, broke with the party position in 2010 saying he supports same-sex marriage and abortion.
