A Greensboro woman has been charged in 2 high-speed chases

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents:

NO LICENSE: On Oct. 13, Deputy William Lewis was dispatched around 11:35 a.m. to check on a disabled vehicle parked along US Highway 331 near Tappan Spur Road. The 53-year-old Macon man driving the 2000 Ford Econoline van reported he was traveling approximately 50 mph when the front end began to shake, followed by a loud noise, then a grinding noise. He managed to pull the damaged van to the side of the road. The driver was cited for not having a valid license.

MISSING BOOK: On October 15, Cpl. Baer Schiffer was dispatched to a location near Epps Bridge Parkway where a 48-year-old Oconee woman reported someone entered her vehicle and stole a debit card and pain pills. An officer reviewed security video from a nearby convenience store and never saw anyone approach the woman’s vehicle.

DUI CHARGED: On Oct. 15, Deputy Dylan Pulliam responded to numerous 911 calls about a reckless driver running people off the road. The deputy observed the 2022 Ford F-250 on Experiment Station Road, where he saw a cloud of dust created as the vehicle passed other vehicles driving on the side of the road. After a traffic stop, the 43-year-old Greensboro woman refused to get out of the pickup and when the officer tried to open the door, she sped away. A pursuit ensued with speeds reaching 100 mph as the truck fled Watkinsville and headed toward Clarke County on Timothy Road. The officer attempted a PIT maneuver but was unsuccessful due to oncoming traffic. However, when the pickup tried to turn around, the officer hit the rear tire, causing the Ford to spin. Deputy Collin Worsham secured the pickup to prevent it from leaving. When Pulliam tried to put the pickup into park gear, the woman punched him in the face. She also hit Worsham, but they managed to put her in handcuffs. A Yeti cup of tequila was found in the van. She was taken to jail where she hit another officer in the head. She faces numerous charges, including DUI and criminal obstruction.

ANOTHER ARREST: On October 20, Sgt. Pat Holl responded shortly after 2 p.m. to 911 calls about a driver driving a 2019 Jaguar Pace on US Highway 441 who was running other vehicles off the road. Holl saw the Jag in the Bishop area and observed it cross the center line, so he attempted to conduct a traffic stop. He could see the driver looking at him in the side mirror, but she refused to stop. Speeds reached 100 mph and Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist by placing a spike lane on the highway at Plantation Road. The Jag ran over the spikes and stopped. Holl arrived and recognized the woman from a previous pursuit a few days prior. The 43-year-old Greensboro woman refused to get out of the vehicle and blew out her window. Deputies broke the window and handcuffed her. Animal control was contacted to take a dog into the vehicle. At the jail, she resisted being booked and an officer pulled a stun gun on her, but threatened to kill him if he used it. She was pinned down in a chair, but one officer suffered injuries to her face and neck where the suspect slapped and scratched her. She faces numerous charges ranging from felony hit and run to felony obstruction. According to a report in the Morgan County Citizen, the same woman was arrested in March 2023 following a high-speed chase in Morgan, Jasper and Putnam counties where spikes were also used to stop her Ford F-250 pickup.

Elberton Shooting: South Carolina teen charged in shooting death of Hart County teen at Elberton nightclub

VEHICLE ASSAULT: On Oct. 16, Deputy Matthew Lariscy responded to an injury wreck on Branch Road, Bishop. He arrived to find that a Ford F-150 truck had rear-ended a Kawasaki Mule, causing the four-wheeler to go off the roadway and crash into a cattle fence. The drivers, both 53, and neighbors on Branch Road had an ongoing dispute over the pickup driver’s dog. This dog owner told the officer that he ran the man off the road because he felt the other dog was taunting him. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault. The Mule driver complained of whiplash and bruised ribs.

Wreck Investigated: On October 17, Deputy William Lewis was dispatched around 7:20 a.m. to a wreck on US Highway 78, Bogart. One driver, a 40-year-old Athens woman, did not speak English, but the officer communicated through Google Translate. The woman could tell that when she made a turn “only one truck was coming and coming far away”. However, the truck driver said he was heading east on 78 when the other vehicle “shot” the road and was unable to stop. The woman was found guilty. Both vehicles were disabled following the collision.
