The public has another chance to get information about the new I-80 bridge over the Mississippi River

QUAD CITIES, Ill./Iowa (KWQC) – The Illinois Department of Transportation is holding a public hearing as part of the Interstate 80 Mississippi River Bridge Replacement Study.

An online hearing will be held on Tuesday.

Engineers will discuss options and potential impacts and collect input from the public.

The online hearing will take place at 4:00 PM on the website i80mississippibridge.com.

On Wednesday, October 30th, there will be an in-person open house at LeClaire City Hall from 1 to 3.

The DOT says the I-80 bridge was built in the 1960s and has recently required significant maintenance and does not meet current standards.

The preferred plan to replace the bridge, presented last November, has been refined based on public feedback.

If all goes according to plan, construction could begin in 2028.
