Giants vs. Predictions Steelers, MNF picks and best bets: A +420 1st inning ad?

The Week 8 NFL slate wraps up tonight as the New York Giants travel to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium. This conference matchup features two teams going in opposite directions.

The Giants are currently 2-5 with back-to-back weeks of disappointing offensive play. While Pittsburgh is 5-2 heading into Sunday night’s 37-15 win over the Jets in Russell Wilson’s first start of the season.

Every bet has the Steelers favored by 6 points, except FanDuel (5.5 points). The over/under for the game is 36.5, according to the latest NFL Week 8 Odds.

Giants vs. Predictions Steelers and best bets

Devin Singletary saw his consistent 68% role+ snap share drop drastically when the back played just 21% of the snaps in his return from injury against the Eagles last week.

It’s hard to see Singletary getting the volume to top that total against defenses that equal five fantasy points allowed at the RB position. Tyrone Tracy Jr. plays well and is the go-to option in passing situations.

Who you can count on to sing, though, is George Pickens. Pickens took a while to get going, but he was fed at an elite pace by Russell Wilson against one of the league’s best secondaries last week.

Deonte Banks is a talented cornerback, but if Russell Wilson is willing to trust Pickens in jump ball situations, he should be able to put together another productive day that tops that total.

Similarly, the Giants will look to put the ball in the hands of Malik Nabers. The rookie had his worst performance of the year against Philadelphia and still managed 4 catches for 41 yards.

I think he’s back to his usual involvement (he hit that number in two of the first four games). That’s a success rate worth betting on at these odds.

NFL Week 8 Giants vs. Steelers

Why the Steelers could win as a favorite

Best Odds: -258 to DraftKings

Once Andrew Thomas went down with the injury, the Giants offensive line went from inconsistent to awful. As a result, the Eagles were able to collect eight sacks in the game, while New York’s offense collected three points.

Things don’t get any easier on Monday night when the team takes on the talented speed tandem of TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith.

Aside from the defensive advantage, the Steelers looked impressive last week. While the Jets weren’t playing the cleanest football, Pittsburgh dominated the contest. Plus, Russell Wilson has shown shades of his Seattle self rather than the one who spent two seasons in Denver.

If Arthur Smith and Wilson can continue to open up the passing attack, this could be a problem for the Steelers at home.

Why the giants could win as the underdogs

Best Odds: +225 to BetMGM

After beating the New York Jets last weekend, many believed that Russell Wilson would take the Steelers to a new level. After the Jets followed that performance up by losing to the Jacoby Brissett-led Patriots, everyone should hesitate for a second.

A result like the Pats beating the Jets is, of course, where the term “Any Sunday” comes from. Has this Steelers team evolved? Or did Wilson only intervene against a favorable opponent?

Subjectivity aside, filming a crime can go a long way in slowing them down. Russell Wilson isn’t out of the woods yet to get rid of any doubt at quarterback.

If the top seven Giants can create enough havoc, we could be looking at an ugly, low-scoring affair that could break in their favor.
