RCMP say a Medicine Hat man died Sunday night in a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle in southeastern Alberta.

The vehicles were both eastbound on Highway 1, just east of Boundary Road SE, when they collided around 5:15 p.m.

RCMP said the motorcyclist, a 66-year-old man, was taken to hospital in Medicine Hat with life-threatening injuries but later died.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Following the collision, a portion of Highway 1 was closed for several hours.

RCMP have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
