Chicago’s Tyrique Stevenson taunted his fans during Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary

Chicago Bears defensive back Tyrique Stevenson likely won’t be enjoying any meetings in the coming days.

The sophomore from Miami was on the field for Washington Hail Mary pass by Jayden Daniels who won the game in a walk-off fashion. But he wasn’t exactly paying attention when the ball was snapped. Instead, he was seen on the sidelines, taunting Commanders fans. For nearly 5 seconds after Jayden Daniels received the snap, Stevenson was completely unaware of the play going on behind him.

When he turned and realized they were Washington receivers running toward the end zone, he began chasing Daniels. When the pass arrived, it was Stevenson who tipped it to Noah Brown for the touchdown.

Also, ESPN NFL analyst Benjamin Solak broke down the play immediately afterward and showed that Stevenson was likely the man responsible for covering Brown behind the scrum.

The throw officially went 52 yards and was Daniels’ only touchdown throw of the game.

Chicago took the lead on a Roschon Johnson run with 25 seconds left, capping a 10-play, 62-yard drive that took 3:56 off the clock and probably should have given the Bears their fifth win.

Instead, Daniels had rushing completions of 11 and 13 yards to move Washington from its own 24 to the 48 to set up the Hail Mary play. By getting the incredible win, Daniels seemingly earned an offensive Rookie of the Year award and may have even entered the MVP talk.

Washington moved to 6-2 with the win. The Chiefs will come out of Week 8 on top of the NFC East. If Daniels picks up some hardware at the end of the season, maybe he should send Stevenson a “thank you” card.
