Juvenile crime rocks Baltimore, residents demand more consequences

Over the past week, juvenile crime has ramped up in Baltimore and surrounding areas.

On Tuesday, three juveniles kidnapped a woman at gunpoint, leading police on a chase, before collapsing.

Within 24 hours, they were back on the streets, under the watch of a GPS monitor.

Baltimore police confirm the three have previously been arrested for stolen vehicles.

On Wednesday, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old were arrested for the armed robbery of another juvenile.

According to the victim, one of the minors put a gun to his stomach.

The 12-year-old had been arrested five other times for robbery and was under GPS monitoring at the time.

On Friday, police were searching for a juvenile they say may be responsible for a discharge that left a home in Fed Hill riddled with bullets.

Witnesses tell Fox45 the juvenile was trying to shoot two other juveniles.

As the crime moves around the city, the townspeople hear each other.

Owen Lyons lives in Federal Hill, on the street where his neighbor’s house was hit by a bullet.

“There doesn’t seem to be enough consequences for this type of activity because it seems to be rampant throughout Baltimore,” Lyons said.

In West Baltimore, John tells Fox45, things have gotten out of hand.

“The young generation these days is almost out of control. Just doing all the types of things that should be done,” John said.

According to Baltimore police, more than a dozen juveniles were arrested this week for serious crimes.
