BLM activist Figuereo arrested, charged in Schenectady | News

SCHENECTADY — Saratoga Black Lives Matter organizer Lexis Figuereo has been arrested, accused of pointing an AR-15-style weapon at a man during an altercation at his partner’s Schenectady home Thursday.

The 37-year-old social justice activist pleaded not guilty to the menacing and weapons charges when he was arraigned Friday morning, according to media reports. Both charges are misdemeanors.

The alleged victim in the case filed for a protective order.

Figuereo, who is represented by Ava Biren Agree, declined to comment on the case to the Daily Gazette.

He is expected back in Schenectady City Court next month.

His legal defense argued that the activist and his partner had been assaulted by an intruder at the Raymond Street residence, according to the Times Union. The incident was first reported Friday by local news outlets.

Schenectady police did not return a request for comment.

Figuereo has had previous run-ins with police officials since his four-year rise as a social justice crusader in the Saratoga Springs political realm.

The alleged incident happened the same week the Saratoga BLM announced plans to create an emergency response team to deal with people experiencing overdoses and mental health issues without police intervention. It is expected to enter into force in 2025.
