Ashley Gorley is donating her royalties from Jelly Roll’s “I Am Not Okay” to the Songwriting Community Wellness Group.

Ashley Gorley, VarietyHitmakers Songwriter of the Year for 2023, will donate royalties from his 80th #1 country single, Jelly Roll’s “I Am Not Okay,” to the Onsite Foundation: Creatives Support Network, offering mentorship, education, resources and free resources. mental health support specifically designed for members of the composition community.

The song was written by the two together with Taylor Phillips and Casey Brown; Gorley’s contribution will take the form of 80 grants for 80 people, as well as support for the program’s infrastructure.

“A song about fighting to get out of bed in the morning is #1 and that really speaks to where we are in the world,” Gorley said in the announcement. “It was important for us to take this moment to say ‘you’re not alone’ and support a creative network with programming tailored to songwriters at every stage of their journey.”

According to the announcement, songwriter-focused intensives are an important part of the program, as well as two-day individual and group immersive therapy sessions and therapy sessions specifically designed for creatives. In addition, the program includes mentoring and social impact initiatives, as well as online programs and conversational resources.

“This song in particular, along with the Jelly Roll Era, creates a movement and a timely conversation about the need to equip creators with the tools to optimize their personal and professional activities,” adds Onsite’s Miles Adcox. “I have been at the intersection of music and mental well-being for most of my career and have experienced first-hand the challenges and opportunities facing creatives today. Music is medicine and the comfort, relief, support and overall impact it provides to humanity globally is immeasurable. Our storytellers are a national treasure that we should pour into and protect at all costs. We are grateful to Ashley, Jelly Roll, and the Tape Room writers for starting this conversation in the songwriting community and for lending their expertise and resources.”
