Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver who hit a police officer Saturday night, Reading police said.

The department said an officer was conducting a routine traffic stop around 7:29 p.m. near 326 Lowell Street at Willow Street. Police said the officer was struck in the elbow by the side mirror of a passing pickup truck. The car was driving east on Lowell Street and turned south onto Willow Street, police said.

The officer was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, the post said. Reading police said the pickup truck is red with a black rear bumper and has a light strip across the tailgate. Authorities are urging residents to check their dash cams or video doorbells for any videos of the incident.

Reading police said anyone with information should contact them at 781-944-1212.
