Liz Cheney on Vance and Trump and women voters

WASHINGTON (CBS, KYMA/KECY) – Former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) spoke with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation Sunday in response to Comments from Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance.

“I think they’re doing everything they can to try to distract from the fact that the people who know Donald Trump best, including retired four-star Marine General John Kelly, who is a father with a gold star, they came and said very clearly and very directly to the American people that Donald Trump is out of shape, that Donald Trump himself, standing by the graves of our fallen service members, is saying things like they are bastards and miss the dining room of by the Oval Office for hours, hours, and he watched people with flags and his name, a mob he had sent to the Capitol, he watched them brutally beat police officers and invade our Capitol his own Vice President Chiefs of Staff don’t vote for him, secretaries of defense, national security adviser, so, you know, I don’t think that certainly in my lifetime, probably in American history a situation where so many of the former president’s top officials say they’re not going to vote for him. And I think you know, we’re going to hear continued attacks and rhetoric from Donald Trump and JD Vance to try to hide that. But at the end of the day, it’s a desperation that the American people are – they’re a lot smarter than that and they get through it. I’m confident.”

Asked if she was concerned about her personal security if former President Donald Trump won, Cheney said:

“First of all, I am very confident that Vice President Harris will win this election. It’s what we’re seeing across the country, the absolutely unprecedented kind of coalition coming together to support it. You know, we’re all going to go through the box and nobody’s too confident here, but I think he’s going to be the next president of the United States, and I think Donald Trump has introduced violence into our politics in a way that we haven’t Any violence is unacceptable. Certainly the assassination attempt on the former president was completely unacceptable and obviously should not have happened brought before the military courts, the former chairman of the chief of staff should be hanged for treason and his partner of driving, you know, it doubles, you know, I think that tells you that you’re dealing. with a man who has no conscience, and the people who have worked most closely with him know that, so I am confident that he will be defeated next week.”

During the interview, Brennan and Cheney talked about women voters in the United States, to which Brennan asked Cheney if the latter had heard from them that they were afraid to tell their husbands who they were voting for.

“What we see is so important and so exciting. You saw a true coalition of women who are pro-life and pro-choice come together to support Vice President Harris, and that’s because we’ve seen some of the best. draconian laws that have been passed in places like Texas and North Carolina that prevent women from receiving life-saving medical care, preventing women from receiving medical care that you know will ensure that if they miscarry, they can have nine children, In principle, a set of circumstances that cannot be maintained. And so you have a growing coalition supporting Vice President Harris. Also, a lot of Republicans and independents who are saying, look, you know, I don’t want to bring the wrath of Donald Trump and JD Vance on me. I’m not going to talk about it And we, you know, obviously, encourage your vote to be a secret vote. You should do what you know is right and — and I think you’re going to have, frankly, a lot of men and women who will go into the voting booth and vote their conscience, vote for Vice President Harris. He may never say anything publicly, but the results will speak for themselves.”
