HOV lanes in southern Nevada

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Nevada Department of Transportation is seeking public input on HOV lanes in southern Nevada.

Residents and drivers could take part in a new survey to assess the use of high-occupancy vehicle lanes.

The survey is the public’s opportunity to share insights and experiences with HOV systems.

“This survey marks an important step in understanding how Nevadans use and benefit from HOV lanes,” said NDOT spokeswoman Kelsey McFarland. “We are committed to improving the HOV system to ensure it meets the needs of all users, supports efficient travel and promotes safety across the state.”

The survey could be found Here. NDOT says it will take about five minutes to complete. It will cover travel patterns, peak-hour usage and suggestions for improvements.

It will be available until Friday, December 13.

NDOT encourages all I-15 and I-11/US 95 users, especially local residents and workers, to participate and make their voices heard.

In 2023, the Nevada Board of Transportation voted to change the hours of operation of the HOV lane on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The board also ordered NDOT to conduct a National Environmental Policy Act study to determine the future of HOV lanes in southern Nevada.
