‘Disgruntled ex-employees’: Vance rejects Trump’s ‘fascist’ claims in Tapper interview

JD Vance had a simple explanation for the worried remarks of several former Trump administration officials: They’re still angry about being fired.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Vance said the former president’s multiple rejections by top advisers in Trump’s first term were the work of “disgruntled former staffers.”

Vance told Tapper on Sunday that sour grapes between Trump and figures like former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley to boil down to Donald Trump’s supposed pledge not to get involved in foreign affairs.

“This is about politics, not about personality,” Vance said. They’ll say, well, he’s a dictator when what they really mean is they won’t listen… when they wanted him to start ridiculous conflicts.”

Both Milley and former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly have characterized Trump as a fascist in recent days. Kelly also shared a disturbing story in which she says Trump wanted “the kind of generals that Hitler had.”

Tapper pressed Vance on the subject, questioning whether the Ohio senator really believed Trump’s vice president, Mike Pence refused to approve his former ally because of his refusal to go to war.

“Absolutely, that’s my argument,” Vance said, adding that other grievances were just resentment over being fired by Trump.

It doesn’t matter that Milley and Pence weren’t fired by Trump. Still, all openly worried about the prospect of a second term for a president who has threatened to unleash the military.”enemies within.”

Vance rejected the idea that Trump was referring to his political opponents or citizens who disagree with him, despite his repeated use of the ominous phrase to refer directly to Democratic Party leaders such as Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi.

“He said he was going to send the military after the American people? Show me the quote where he said that.” Vance asked.
