Abandoned car hit by train in Colorado Springs; arrested driver | News

Colorado Springs police on Sunday arrested a woman suspected of abandoning her vehicle on railroad tracks while intoxicated, law enforcement officials said.

Haleigh Micci, 21, is charged with driving under the influence, according to police.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday, BNSF Railway officials contacted Colorado Springs police about a vehicle that had been struck by a train on the tracks crossing South Sierra Madre Street near Mill Street. Responding officers found an unoccupied car at the scene.

Investigators determined the driver likely got stuck on the railroad tracks, saw an approaching train and exited the vehicle.

Police later located the driver, identified as Micci, and arrested her on suspicion of DUI. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
