OU football commit Alexander Shieldnight suffers a season-ending injury

Senior defensive end Waggoner Alexander Shieldnightan OU football committee, will miss the rest of the high school football season after suffering a fractured lower fibula against Grove on Friday, coach Dale Condict confirmed to The Oklahoman.

Shieldnight, a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings, employed in OU last November.

It’s a devastating blow to the 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end, as he was on a tear throughout his senior season. Shieldnight totaled 59 tackles, including 26 for loss, and five sacks. He also caught 18 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns at tight end.

As the program’s all-time scoring leader, Shieldnight has been instrumental in guiding No. 1 Wagoner to an impressive 8-0 start in Class 4A.
