Olivia Munn and John Mulaney had a special night at InStyle’s inaugural Imagemaker Awards.

On October 24, the “X-Men: Apocalypse” actress. was honored with the Woman of Impact Award — which is given to a celebrity who uses their platform “to bring attention to a cause close to their hearts and create lasting change,” InStyle wrote in the awards announcement.

Mulaney came as Munn’s date for her big night, the two dressed in classic black evening wear.

Munn wore a floor-length black dress that dipped into the skit, while Mulaney opted for a black suit and tie with a white button down.

When it came time for Munn’s award, Mulaney took the stage to present it.

He shared with the group about Munn’s journey with breast cancer and how scary it was, but how brave she was – and how much of an impact she had on other women by sharing her story.

“About a year (after learning her diagnosis), Olivia shared her story,” he told the crowd. “Her journey against cancer. This was a cancer that was not detected by a BRCA gene test, it was not detected by a mammogram. He was detected because he did a previously unknown test called the lifetime breast cancer risk assessment test and they found that he had a 37 percent chance of breast cancer and about a month later he had a double mastectomy about her breast cancer journey, there was a 4,000 percent increase in women visiting for breast cancer risk assessment. This was the first week Olivia saved lives by speaking her truth.

The InStyle event also featured impactful designers, stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists and other industry professionals tasked with creating creative and innovative looks. Stars like Kristen Stewart, Lisa Rinna, Colman Domingo, Chrissy Teigen and more were also in attendance.

In April 2023, Munn received a diagnosis of luminal B breast cancer — a particularly rapid disease — in both breasts. She had to put plans to shoot in a movie on hold and instead prepare for a series of difficult procedures and surgeries, including a double mastectomy and medically induced menopause.

Although the process was “terrifying,” Munn found a reason for clarity in sharing her story. She demystified the process of spreading awareness and fostered a community for others making difficult decisions about their health, which earned her a Woman of Impact Award. In its announcement of the awards, InStyle called the actress “a pillar of strength.”

This week, Munn posed for SKIMS and showed off her mastectomy scars for the first time. The campaign will help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

“I felt a sense of freedom,” Munn said Today at the launch of the campaign. “It’s a part of my journey that had been hidden, so sharing it was liberating.”
