A man remains in the Towns County Detention Center without bond after allegedly committing aggravated sexual assault against a 16-year-old victim.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office received a report on Oct. 20 that Dwight Lamont Holland, 36, allegedly sexually assaulted the victim at a residence in the area, according to a Facebook post from the agency. After probable cause was established, the suspect was arrested by the Murphy North Carolina Police Department. Holland allegedly confessed to the crime during an interview with a Towns County investigator.

Holland was charged with felony aggravated sexual assault and felony aggravated sodomy.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, according to TCSO.
