Drug bust in Pearl River leads to arrest

Rockland County, NY – Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that Darryl Wright, 41, of Pearl River, was arrested and charged with first degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. This arrest followed of a six-month investigation by the Rockland District Attorney’s Drug Task Force into narcotics sales in Orangetown.

On Wednesday, a search of Wright’s residence in Pearl River by detectives from the Drug Task Force and the Orangetown Police Department led to the seizure of two kilograms of cocaine, heroin and additional drug paraphernalia. The operation signifies efforts by local law enforcement to intercept drug trafficking in the community.

Attorney Walsh emphasized that the arrest underscores a strong stance against illegal drug activity in Rockland County. The investigation involved joint efforts with the Rockland County Probation Department and the Orangetown Police Detective and Patrol Division.

Wright was arraigned Wednesday before Judge Patrick Loftus in Orangetown Justice Court and was held without bail at the Rockland County Jail. Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Deputy District Attorney John Luongo were assigned to handle the case.
