CHP: Highway 12 crash kills driver; authorities suspect DUI

A driver was killed early Sunday after their vehicle went off Interstate 12 about 20 miles from the Napa County border and overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.

In a Sunday morning post on the California Highway Patrol-Solano County Facebook page, authorities said they believe the driver was intoxicated and may have been traveling fast when the vehicle, which was headed east on Interstate 80, left road.

CHP officers were dispatched to the crash around 3:20 a.m

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, which was not specified in the statement.

Photos posted by the CHP indicate the single-vehicle crash occurred in or near the unincorporated community of Cordelia in Solano County.

The driver’s identity will be released by the appropriate county sheriff’s coroner’s office after family is notified, officials said.
