End of weekend cooler and wet; Warming up for the Halloween weekend

A few showers will be the theme as we head in today before we see clouds and cooler air later tonight. Showers will be light and under 0.25 inches or less, possibly breaking the dry streak we’ve seen this month as New Bern has picked up a trace and others from zero to zero in the rain gauge. Highs will remain in the upper 50s to low 60s and overnight lows in the low 40s. Monday will be our last cool day in the ENC as highs return to the upper 60s to lower 70s with northeast breezes 5-15 mph. More sunshine will return as we head into the week and continue through Halloween as the mercury climbs into the upper 70s to lower 80s in the afternoon and drops back into the mid to upper 50s at night. A few showers are possible along the coast midweek, but these will be light and won’t cause a washout throughout the day.

As we head into the first weekend of November, the heat will persist, but the longer days won’t, as we turn the clocks back an hour on Saturday night and Sunday for the end of Daylight Savings Time. Sunrises will be close to 6:30am and sunsets will again be at 5:05-5:10pm. Be sure to check the smoke detectors and change the batteries if necessary.
