Datamining implies that Rockstar is updating Bully for PC (possibly for GTA+)

The reason they’re interested in it now might be to stare us in the face.

Rockstar seems to be making a new update for the Bully.

That reported by RockstarIntel, dataminer Tez2 has noticed that Rockstar has added a development branch for Bully on their PC client and launcher. The data doesn’t show that an update has been rolled out yet, but one or more updates are likely soon.

The mobile port of this 2006 game was added to Grand Theft Auto + in August of this year. This means that if you have a Grand Theft Auto + subscription, on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, you can play the mobile version of Bully by connecting your account on your phone.

Rockstar also announced that they will bring Grand Theft Auto + on PC very soon, with rights similar to those already enjoyed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S subscribers. Now that could mean Grand Theft Auto + PC subscribers could also get the mobile versions of the Bullybut this move seems to indicate that they want to use that PC version.

And if that were the case, Rockstar needs to put in the work to fix it Bully now, because the version that is available on Rockstar’s PC client/launcher is buggy and prone to crashes. This certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who bought Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionbut maybe that has something to do with it too.

Rockstar may still act dubious about who should get credit for this, but they’ve made an effort update recently that solved a lot of the problems with that collection. And there might be questions about whether Rockstar could have pushed these updates much earlier, but this news might suggest that they are now interested in repairing their older games for resale or reuse.

So it wouldn’t be out of the question if Rockstar retained the services of Video Games Deluxe to work with Bullyafter successfully rolling out the Classic Lighting update on the mobile version of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. This is definitely speculative on our part and how does he know? Maybe Grover Street Games is still willing to work with Rockstar after all and they are the ones doing it.

The possibility of Rockstar doing this work themselves seems pretty low, as they themselves are focused on the pending release of Grand Theft Auto 6. That launch may come with a lot of things they want to sell to consumers along with it, like us Grand Theft Auto + subscriptions. And with that, it makes sense that Rockstar would be interested in their old games again.
