The inflatable tent and the zip-up inflatable mattress are made for each other

Inflatable tents are easy to set up and inflatable camp mattresses are nice and comfortable, so why not combine the two? That’s just what Canada’s Rise Outdoor has done with its AirNEST system, which consists of a wall-to-wall tent and mattress along with an electric pump.

The main component of the setup is the tent itself, which is supported by an inflatable chest-type frame. It has a waterproof 50D, 3000HH polyethylene surface along with a puncture resistant 210D Dacron/420D Oxford nylon base.

Some of the tent’s other features include large front and rear mesh-covered entrances, a zippered/open vestibule for storing wet boots or more, and three pockets integrated into the wall to store things like smartphones, flashlights, or books . It remains secured to the ground via 14 8″ (203mm) titanium nails and 10 Dyneema cordelette tie rods.

The mattress locks into the tent along its sides, meaning it can be removed and used on its own if desired

The queen-sized air-insulated mattress takes up the entire 42.5 sq-ft (3.94 sq m) of the tent, quickly attaching to interior walls with zippers along its sides. It’s made from puncture-resistant Oxford 420D ripstop nylon, has an R-value of 4.0 and can accommodate up to three adults.

The tent and mattress inflate in just two minutes each using the included Airbank electric pump. That pump can also be used to inflate other items like small rafts (it’s programmable up to 20 psi/1.4 bar) or to charge electronics like phones and Bluetooth speakers via its 12-volt lithium-ion battery /15,600 mAh.

As an added bonus, not only the floating mattress can be used to relax on the surface of a nearby lake, but also the entire tent. and the mattress combo can serve as a floating fortress of solitude.

Tent measures 74 inches long by 74.8 inches wide and 63.78 inches high in front (188 x 190 x 162 cm)

According to Rise Outdoor, the tent, mattress, and an included backpack that’s used to carry them all tip the scales at a combined 22.88 lb (10.38 kg). The Airbank adds another 1.26 kg (2.28 lb).

If you are interested, the AirNEST system is currently making the subject of a Kickstarter campaign. Assuming it makes it to production, a pledge of $1,099 (about $789) will get you a setup of your own — that’s 21 percent off the planned retail price.

You can see the system in use in the video below.
