Five charged in scheme linked to MGM 2023, Caesars Entertainment hack

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Five people have been charged in a phishing scheme related to the MGM and Caesars Entertainment hacks last year.

This is according to Infosecurity magazine. MGM said customer bank account information was stolen during the hack. They estimated a loss of 100 million dollars.

The suspects who have been linked to the case face charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

According to the California United States Attorney’s office, the five are identified as:

  • Ahmed Hossam Eldin Elbadawy, 23, aka “AD,” of College Station, Texas;
  • Noah Michael Urban, 20, aka “Sosa” and “Elijah,” of Palm Coast, Florida;
  • Evans Onyeaka Osiebo, 20, of Dallas, Texas; and
  • Joel Martin Evans, 25, aka “joeleoli,” from Jacksonville, North Carolina.
  • Tyler Robert Buchanan, 22, from the United Kingdom

In July, police in England charged a 17-year-old boy for being connected to a global online group that targeted large organizations such as the MGM Resorts.

A group of hackers known as “AlphaV” claimed responsibility for cyber chaos.
