Powell shared his final conversations with the former Disney executive, who died of an accidental overdose in February 2023, on the “Him & Her” podcast

Heidi Powell shares the last text messages she received from her ex Dave Hollis before him death.

The fitness trainer, 42, said while appearing on the Nov. 13 episode of Him & Her podcasts that she and Hollis, who died of an accidental drug overdose on February 11, 2023, he “never stopped talking until the night he died” and that she has “beautiful closure” from his last texts.

Powell, who separated from Hollis before his death, recalled having “amazing conversations” with the self-help author and former Disney executive that “would change, I will say, toward the end of his life.”

She said the last text he sent her was on the day he died, which also happened to be her son’s birthday, and that it was “like his soul knew it was time”.

“He sent me the most insightful (messages), like, ‘Hey, you know, let me understand where you and I are… I’m not just losing you. You don’t just lose me. We lose our children. And to tell me how much I meant to him,” Powell recalled. “… It was the best day of texting and talking on the phone ever.”

“There is closer to it, the most beautiful closure,” she said. “Our conversation we had right before we went to bed that night and yes, I feel complete.”

Hollis died at age 47 of an accidental overdose of cocaine, fentanyl and alcohol on February 11, 2023. He and Powell dated after separating from his ex-wife Rachel Hollis in 2020 after 16 years of marriage. The two shared four children.

Powell previously revealed on the podcast that she and the YouTube personality and mogul had split up “many times” and that the pair “never got to a point where we were talking about marriage” because they lived in separate states with their children .

“It’s in Texas. I’m in Arizona. We have kids of different ages…he won’t uproot his kids and his ex-wife, I won’t approve of mine…and so we never got over the soul connection,” she said. “Building a life wasn’t even something we ever talked about,” adding that it “wasn’t realistic.”

Powell said that when “challenges” arose for Hollis in their relationship, which she did not specify, she believed he would “start making the healing decisions for me instead of (him).”

She revealed that the pair had split for good and had “entered treatment”.

Powell previously spoke about Hollis’ death in a video posted on Instagram in April 2023.

“Dave and I have broken up before, so there’s a lot of question marks for me,” Powell said in the video, admitting that the two, who started dating in 2020, have broken up with something time before his death.

“Nothing that I know now takes away from the life he had in this world and it doesn’t take away from the things I love about him,” she added.
