Uttar Pradesh bypolls: Clash breaks out between two parties during Meerapur bypoll

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A clash between two parties took place near Kakaroli village during Meerapur Assembly Polls in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

According to Muzaffarnagar SSP, Abhishek Singh, confirmed the incident and said that peace has been restored and voting is going on in a free and fair manner.
“During the Meerapur assembly by-election, a clash took place between two parties near Kakaroli village in Kakaroli police station area. The police immediately arrived at the scene and removed everyone using force. Peace is maintained at the site and voting is conducted freely. and the right way,” said the SSP.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) claimed on social media platform X that the police “misbehaved” with voters and prevented them from voting in their Meerapur constituency.
“They are stopped from casting their vote, voting gets affected. Police misbehave with voters and use lathis on women at booth number 318 of Mirapur assembly constituency in Muzaffarnagar. Election Commission should take cognizance and ensure fair voting,” SP said. on X.
Voting is on today for by-elections in 15 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala and Uttarakhand. Nine of these places are in Uttar Pradesh.
These by-elections are important for National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which lost many seats in the last general elections, winning only 36 out of 80 seats in the state.
Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘batenge to tenge’ slogan, saying if the CM thought such statements would win votes, he had not learned since the Lok Sabha elections.
Yadav expressed confidence that the Samajwadi Party would win the elections.
