Two teenagers found guilty of murder in Roswell park double shooting

ROSWELL, NM (KRQE) – Two teenagers have been found guilty of first-degree murder and other charges in connection with a double homicide at Roswell.

The 10-day jury trial for Carlos Gallegos and Damian Romero ended Monday. The two were found guilty of willful and deliberate first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a weapon by a person under 19.

Gallegos and Romero, who were 15 at the time, were two of the two four suspects charged in the Cahoon Park double shooting where 15-year-old Cameron Luna and 16-year-old Jorge Armendariz lost their lives on April 16, 2022.

Gallegos and Romero were remanded into the custody of the Lea County Juvenile Detention Center and will remain in custody awaiting a dispositional hearing before being arraigned.
