Louisville suspends DB Tayon Holloway after Sunday night’s arrest

Louisville defensive back Tayon Holloway has been suspended from the program indefinitely following his arrest Sunday for felony strangulation and domestic battery.

Holloway pleaded not guilty on Monday. Louisville addressed its status with the program in a statement.

“The University of Louisville is aware of the arrest of football student-athlete Tayon Holloway,” the school said in a statement. ESPN. “As we gather more information, Tayon has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.”

Holloway, 20, allegedly attacked a woman when she tried to stop him from smoking marijuana around 9 p.m. Sunday night, according to a police report.

Police say Holloway threw the woman off the bed and punched her in the face. When she tried to fight back, Holloway put a pillow over her face, suffocating her for about 10 seconds before trying to throw her out of the room, according to police.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Louisville returned home from a road loss at Stanford on Saturday night.
