Police are appealing for witnesses following a ‘serious attack’ which took place in a busy town in county Kildare in broad daylight.

In a statement, a spokesman confirmed the incident happened shortly before 12pm on Monday on Newbridge Road, Naas, near Ardconagh Housing Estate.

According to gardaí, the victim, aged in her 20s, was approached by a single man and assaulted, suffering facial injuries. He was later taken to Naas Hospital for treatment.

A man, aged in his 20s, who was arrested during further inquiries, has been charged and is due to appear before Naas District Court.

In a statement, the spokesman appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are particularly appealing for those with video footage, particularly dashcam footage from drivers traveling on Newbridge Road near Ardconagh Housing Estate at the time, to make the footage available.
