Diddy used other inmates’ phone accounts to call people he was banned from speaking to, prosecutors claim

Hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is charged of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution after his arrest in September 2024. Prosecutors say Sean “Diddy” Combs used phone accounts from other inmates to make calls

Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center. He waits his trial in May 2025. Meanwhile, other civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault, harassment and sex trafficking hit Combs. While his legal team tried to get him out of jail with a bail package, Combs was deemed a flight risk by several judges, leaving him behind bars.

In November 2024, prosecutors also charged Combs with obstructing the MDC sex trafficking case. They alleged that Combs paid witnesses and enlisted her children for help to clear her name in the public eye. Prosecutors noted that Combs “demonstrated an uncanny ability to get others to do his bidding” despite remaining behind bars, according to DailyMail.com.

Prosecutors alleged that Combs paid off a witness and called her more than 100 times in four days to get her support. Additionally, they alleged that Combs used the phone accounts of at least eight fellow inmates to “avoid law enforcement monitoring” while calling prohibited numbers. Conformable BBCCombs used three-way calls to speak with people who were not listed on his list of approved contacts. The hip-hop mogul is also accused of “directing others” to help pay inmates for access to their accounts.

Prosecutors made the announcement after Diddy’s legal team set up a third bail attempt.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ family members posted a video of them huddled around the phone as they wished Happy birthday comb. The moment posted Nov. 4 shows Combs’ youngest child, Love, singing “Happy Birthday.”

“I love you guys so much,” Combs tells his children over the phone. “I can’t wait to see you all. I’m proud of you, especially the girls. I mean, all of them, just because you’re strong. Thank you for being strong and thank you for being with me and supporting me. I love you all. I have the best family in the world. It’s my birthday; i am happy Thank you all for calling me.”

According to the BBC, the prosecution said Combs hoped she could influence potential jurors with her birth video.

“Defendant then monitored the review — that is, audience engagement — and explicitly discussed with his family how to ensure that the video had the desired effect on potential jurors in this case,” the prosecution said.

The hip-hop mogul’s children released a public statement to show their support

The prosecution in the Sean “Diddy” Combs case might think Combs’ family support is just for show. However, in October 2024, Combs’ children released a statement saying they were united with their father regardless of the allegations.

“Last month devastated our family,” Combs’ son Quincy Brown posted Instagram. The photo shows Combs with his mother and children. “Many have judged both him and us based on allegations, conspiracy theories and false narratives that have become absurd on social media. We are united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold on to the truth, knowing it will prevail and nothing will break the strength of our family.”
