Man accused of disrupting funeral service faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines

RACINE, WI — A 49-year-old Racine man with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1995 is facing three new criminal charges after allegedly disrupting a funeral service Monday.

Shawn Londre is charged with felony threatening a law enforcement officer, along with misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and disrupting a funeral or memorial service, all as repeat offenders.

The felony carries a maximum possible sentence of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine, while each of the misdemeanors carries a sentence of nine months in the Racine County Jail and a $10,000 fine.

London remains in custody on a $5,000 cash bond. He is due back in Racine County Circuit Court on Nov. 20 for a 9 a.m. preliminary hearing.

He allegedly interrupted a funeral while drunk

According to the criminal complaint:

Racine police were dispatched to the area of 8th and Main streets on Nov. 11 for a report of a man yelling profanities at people attending a funeral. When the police arrived, they recognized London from previous contacts.

They noted that he appeared intoxicated, had slurred speech and had urinated on himself. They also found an almost empty drink bottle next to him.

Officers told London he could leave the area or risk arrest. He is alleged to have replied that he would “do” one of the officers and “blame him”. He then resisted arrest and was taken into custody.

The police took the defendant to the hospital for treatment for a laceration, and while at the hospital, he told the officers several times that he was going to “get up” and “kill both of you. “, the complaint states.

Court records show 16 prior felony convictions for London, including a felony count of sexually supporting a child 16 or older in Racine in 1995. He has also been incarcerated on 16 separate occasions since that original conviction.
