CAPE TOWN – The body of a man who was reported missing at Sunrise Beach near Muizenberg on Monday has been found.

The body was found on Saturday by the Strandfontein NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute).

The body has since been identified by the man’s relatives.

NSRI says the police have opened an investigation case in the case.

“The body of a man, identified by family, has been taken into the care of government forensic pathology services and is believed to be the person who went missing in the surf at Sunrise Beach, near Muizenberg, on Monday,” it said. NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon.

The incident follows another case of a woman who may have gone missing in the surf at Sunrise Beach on the same day.

According to NSRI, eyewitnesses say the missing woman was wearing a yellow shirt and was not found despite an extensive search operation on Monday.

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information about the incident or the missing person’s family to come forward.
