Killing of Wells Fargo boss was a robbery gone wrong, police say

Wells Fargo’s late HR chief Willis Ayieko

Detectives believe the slaying of Wells Fargo human resources manager Willis Ayieko was the culmination of a violent robbery gone wrong.

After speaking to some of the suspects who were directly involved in the robbery and murder, detectives say they believe Ayieko was seriously injured in the beating by the killers.

The main suspect in the murder, Robert Wakolo, now dead, is said to have played a key role in the murder.

Wakolo was a trained boxer and was linked to a number of robberies and murders in the region.

He is said to have slammed Ayieko’s head against the wall while forcing him to reveal details of his banks and M-Pesa pin.

The wounds turned fatal as he bled internally, forcing Wakolo and his accomplices to devise ways to dispose of the corpse.

Wakolo called his brother, who was in Kisumu, and asked him to come to the site for an assignment.

Victor Okoth is among those who will respond to murder and robbery with violence charges.

Seven suspects have been linked to the killing, which took place between October 18 and 23 in Siaya.

Two of the suspects were shot and killed as police hunted down the gang, which was also linked to other incidents in the area.

A 52-year-old man who helped dispose of Ayieko’s body was arrested on November 12 in a police operation in Kakamega. Police said Samuel Ongweso was in Doho area, Khisa West at the time of Ayieko’s killing.

He is said to have helped dispose of Ayieko’s body in Mungowere River on October 23.
