Michael Saunders and Company helps feed hundreds of hurricane victims

CORTEZ, Fla. (WWSB) – It’s been weeks since two devastating hurricanes rocked the Suncoast, but so many homeowners are still trying to recover. With so much work left to do, area volunteers are trying to make a difference in the lives of hurricane victims.

On Sunday, Michael Saunders and Company teamed up with local organization Bring on the Ministry for the meal giveaway. They cooked food at the clubhouse in Sunny Shores, a community located in Cortez.

As residents stopped by for the meal, they also picked up some non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, toiletries and even shoes for free.

“The luncheon helps me connect with other people in the community, these people in the community are really nice, and the people who do the event, God bless them,” said Andy Mooney, owner of Sunny Shores.

“We prepare about 200 meals for residents,” said Michael Saunders and the company’s managing broker, Tammy Nordling. “There’s a great need for help here, what we’re finding is that many of our residents have lost everything,” she said.

Nordling said the company plans more meal giveaways for other communities in need.
