Trump returns to White House unleashes ‘back in the kitchen’ rhetoric –

from misogynistic public remarks TO allegations of sexual assault to his thoughts on reproductive health care, Donald Trump he made it very clear that he has no respect for women. Giving the highest form of power to a man who has repeatedly aggressionobjectified, degraded and generally disrespectful women open the door for others to reproduce these actions.

It is obvious that the President of the United States holds a position of influence, acting as a role model for many people. After Trump’s recent victory, he now serves as a mentor to America’s boys — and not in a positive way. Within days of announcing Trump would be the 47th president, misogynistic speech online and in real life has increased dramatically, exposing one of the true pillars of our country: patriarchy and contempt for women.

The statements “your body my choice” and “get back in the kitchen” surged 4,600 percent on X in the days following the election, attacking reproductive rights and promoting outdated social expectations. “Repeal of the 19thsaw a 663% increase after the election, advocating the abolition of women’s suffrage.

Nick Fuentesa white nationalist podcaster, helped propagate this misogynistic rhetoric when he tweeted: “Your body, my choice. Forever”, on November 5, receiving 35 million views. Expression increased on X and made his way in the comment sections of many videos by female creators on TikTok. The words are also trending on Facebook.

The rise of misogyny is not limited to these three phrases; misogynists get creative. An X user POSTED“women who threaten sex hits like LMAO like you have a say,” receiving 10 million views. Andrew Tatean influencer posted: “I saw a woman crossing the road today but I kept my foot down. Right of way? You Have No More Rights,” on Nov. 7, garnering 688,000 views in less than two hours.

These blatant misogynistic statements aren’t just being posted from a dark room behind the protection of a screen, they’re happening in real life.

Students reported their male peers shouting “your body, my choice” at them in class, as well as threatening them in other ways, such as telling them to “sleep with one eye open.” At a rally celebrating Trump’s victory at Texas State Universitymen held signs declaring women property.

Trump hasn’t even been inaugurated yet, but his contempt for women has already emboldened men across the country to openly express their hatred of women. If all this happened just days after the election, before policies were made or changes were enacted, we can only imagine what’s to come. Misogyny is deeply rooted in our country. This election and the upcoming Trump presidency dig them up, remove the dirt and put it in the direct sunlight.

Through these election results, we have shown the boys and men of our country that it is okay to be openly sexist. I showed them that acting in objectifying, predatory, and insensitive ways toward women is not only okay, it’s a reason to be elected president.
