Teaching assistant charged after alleged assault on a student with special needs

White Oak, PA – A teacher’s aide has been charged following an incident at Francis McClure Elementary School in White Oak, according to the Allegheny County Police Department. The General Investigations Unit investigated a report alleging that the aide had assaulted a 5-year-old student with special needs.

The investigation determined that the incident occurred on the playground on November 7 at approximately 11:45 a.m. Video footage shows the assistant, identified as 53-year-old Amy Kevicki, grabbing the child by the neck and pushing him to the ground. Kevicki then ignored the child and walked towards the building. No injuries were reported.

After working with the district attorney’s office, detectives charged Kevicki with felony simple assault, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor harassment.
