The Crystal Lake Police Department made three driver’s license-related arrests and issued eight speeding citations during its Halloween enforcement effort, the agency said in a news release.

In addition, two citations were issued for registration violations and two more for insurance violations.

Illinois law enforcement agencies participated in the effort to “save lives by getting impaired drivers off the road and more people wearing seat belts,” the department said. The fall enforcement campaign ran from October 18 to November 1. Across the state, there has been an added focus on enforcement at night, when statistics show the most deaths occur during impaired driving.

The recent enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
