The new PS5 game already highlights a huge problem with the PS5 Pro

A new PS5 game is already highlighting what could end up being a huge problem with the PS5 Pro. When the PS5 Pro launched last week on November 7th, it did so with only approx 100 games “Enhanced” for this one, which isn’t a very good ratio for a machine that Sony wants PlayStation fans to pay upwards of $700 to enjoy some improvements on. It was bad enough, but it gets worse.

Yesterday, PlayStation and Guerrilla Games launched LEGO Horizon Adventures on Nintendo Switch, PS5 and PC. It’s not the biggest release from PlayStation this generation, but it’s a noteworthy release in the context of 2025 and this holiday window. In fact, it’s the PlayStation-branded holiday release straight from one of its biggest and most prestigious studios, Guerrilla Games. However, it does not support PS5 Pro.

Not only does the new PlayStation release offer zero PS5 Pro improvements, but there’s no telling if that will change, let alone when. Of course, LEGO Horizon Adventures isn’t the most technically demanding game that will make use of the PS5 Pro for its full worth, but early adopters could certainly have been thrown a bone with some upgrades. This is the first release from PlayStation since the launch of the PS5 Pro, and it does nothing to cater to early adopters.

Not only is this bad for the PS5 Pro right away, but it could spell trouble for the machine in the future. If Sony won’t even hold their own studios to the PS5 Pro standard, how will they promote support elsewhere? This is especially pressing when we know the said support requires a considerable amount of resourceswhich could frighten many partners, especially the smaller ones.

You’d also expect support to be strong, so the fact that PlayStation’s first game in the post-PS5 Pro world snubbed the machine begs the question of what will happen in the future when the console is less focused and easier to skip support?

At the time of publication, PlayStation and Guerrilla Games have not offered any insight as to why LEGO Horizon Adventures is not enhanced for PS5 Pro. If this changes, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly. Meanwhile, for more PS5 Pro coverage, click through Here.
