Charges filed against Newport Beach man in connection with kidnapping and robbery stopped by deputies

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday that multiple felony charges have been filed against 34-year-old Matthew Parsadayan in connection with a kidnapping and robbery came to a halt during a traffic stop on Olive Mill Road on Tuesday.

Parsadayan, of Newport Beach, was charged with multiple felonies, including kidnapping, second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office said Friday in – a press release.

On Tuesday, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on an RV driving in an unsafe manner at 10:43 p.m., the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office shared.

Parsadayan is being held on $1 million bail at the Santa Barbara County Jail, the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s office added.
